I recently spoke with Wandsworth’s MD Adam Sherry to find out more about electrical accessories, the Wandsworth brand and why their products are perfectly suited to period and in particular Georgian properties.
Why are lighting accessories important to the overall look of a room?
The devil is in the detail. With any design whether a product or a room you have to ensure every element works, so for an interior design project the small items are just as vital to the design as the big statement pieces. An overall room design works because everything has been considered and thought through and when selected correctly, each design element helps enhance each other. Therefore, they aren’t only light switches and plug sockets but rather must be considered as part of the overall design.
The correct electrical accessories aren’t only important for their look, in terms of interaction points within a room they are used on a daily basis multiple times so the look, and just as important feel of these can help portray the rooms design and quality.
Can you talk us through the different types of fittings so toggle versus switch, your finishes etc? We have seven collections of designer light switches and these collections produce multiple options as we have the industry leading number of finishes available, with over 30 finishes available as standard these include Polished Brass, Antique Bronze for a more period look to Matt black for modern look.

To add even more options our designer light switches have a variety of switch options. Each collection and finish offers the options of rockers, toggle, which can also be known as dollies, bell push and dimmers. What do you consier to be the best ranges suited to Georgian properties and why?
Our Heritage collection has been designed specifically to cater for customers looking to create a period look or need to be sympathetic to the properties character. Within our Heritage collection we offer a Georgian design with a rope edge that coveys the spirit of the Georgian period. For Georgian Properties we find our Georgian Collection in one of our antique finishes i.e. Antique Bronze with Toggle switches works well.

To complement the interior design of Etons of Bath’s new show home in Bath, we used a selection of Wandsworth’s premium collections of handcrafted designer light switches and sockets. The Antique Bronze Penthouse Collection were used in the kitchen and living space as it matched the Samuel Heath bronze kitchen tap, the kitchen handles and also blends well with the antique mirrored glass. See if you can spot them. The kettle may give the game away.

Wandsworth’s USB integrated sockets from this Collection were also installed to enable easy charging of smart devices and their Controls were used to provide quality LED dimming for the Tom Dixon pendant lights and an ‘all off’ switch was installed at the exit for ultimate energy efficiency.

The Master Bedroom is a mix of contemporary and traditional styles and features eye-catching Crackle wallpaper by Zimmer & Rohde that is enhanced by Wandsworth’s Bronze Penthouse Collection of screwless light switches and sockets.
In the guest bedroom, Wandsworth’s modern sockets, USB chargers and switches from the Crystal Collection, chosen so that the stunning wallpaper ‘Free Fall’ by Juliette Travers appears uninterrupted due to invisible switches. In contrast the Penthouse Collection in Nickel was used on the painted walls.
